Make More Money? You Need to Sell Yourself!
Why is it risky to work for someone else? What would you do if your job suddenly disappeared?
In these times this is unfortunately a question that many people are asking themselves. We all know someone who has lost a job and are wondering what to do now.
Do you know what your skills are? Do you know how you would apply those skills to earn money? Do you have access to a market where these skills would produce employment?
Let’s just look at college students as they enter the workforce. Many of them only work in jobs they were actually trained for (their college education) for a short period of time. A very good friend of mine only worked in the accounting field (his degree) for a year. He took a VERY different job as a manual laborer.
Here’s some good news. He left that job, but took his skills. He was able to apply his skills (not accounting) to a different career path and now manages a large municipal water department, works directly with the mayor, travels the country meeting with other major players in government and is very successful.
Does he own his own business? Yes and no. Yes, he understood that he is constantly selling himself and his skills. No, he actually works for the government.
This is what is important:
- He looked at what he enjoyed
- He looked at what he did not enjoy.
- He knew his skills
- He knew his value
- He sold his value
Even if you work for a company, you must figure out what makes you happy, what you were born to do, understand the value you bring to the table and sell yourself.
I’m going to help you do just that!
